Goalkeepers
I remember watching a few keepers in my time. My top two are Parkes and Ludo.

Ludo made some unbelievable saves at times, but who's your choice as our best ever keeper?

For me it's Ludo that I've witnessed.

I think Stech is playing for Luton now.

Re: Goalkeepers
Parkes, for sure.

Ludo was great for the first season or 2 then started dropping quite a few clangers, which a lot of people have conveniently forgotten.

Re: Goalkeepers
Stephen Henderson arrived, was unimpressive, and soon disappeared. He's had so many clubs, managers seem to be unconvinced of his ability, and soon get rid.
Who can forget the giant Ruud Boffin? Obviously West Ham fans can as no one has mentioned him apart from me. He's playing in Turkey now I see.
Marek Stech never got a chance because Sullivan had to pay Sparta Prague 350 grand if he ever played for the first team. What a fucking cunt Dildo One is!

Bernard Lama was great fun, But I will give it to Parkes a man who actually won something.

Parkes for me.

Peter Grotier in the 70's could be dire at times.

You really should not be talking about goalkeepers.

Re: Goalkeepers
Ludo gets the vote over Parkes for me with Green also a top keeper.

Fabianski is actually a steady eddie which has surprised me but he doesn't pull of world class saves or performances.

Re: Goalkeepers
For me, If you're just judging on ability, then Fabianski is arguably, one of the best we've had.

But...

He's only been with us a season and he's only been performing well for the past 5 years!!

He was doing next to fuck all pre 2014.

He's had a strange career, that's for sure.

Re: Goalkeepers
Phil parkes by a couple of lengths
Ludo a decent second.
Big gap back to the rest of the field headed by Green, James and Day
Crossing the line last Perry suckling

Phil Parker huh?

Re: Goalkeepers
Seen every regular first team WHU keeper from Ernie Gregory till now. Phil Parker heads my list and most of them have been reasonable but I have to say the combination of Randolph and Adrian was below the usual standard. Fabianski has made a difference by being consistently competent.

Re: Goalkeepers
The problem here is the game has changed so much over the years these players played.

So it depends on the parameters you are using:

We could compare them to each other.
We could compare them to their peers in the leagues at the time they played

Or we could just follow our hearts and go with Little Jimmy Walker :-)

Re: Goalkeepers
i'd say Rob Green was the best, and made the kind of saves that you couldnt believe.

he was also prone to the odd error.

Fabianski is probably the least error prone we've had.

Re: Goalkeepers
Fabianski is a better goalkeeper than Ludo ever was.
